Denon DVD-3800 modification

Filed under: Sources — Spencer @ 3:37 pm

I once owned a Denon DVD-3800 and I had modified the output with a transformer Lundahl 1527 to couple the analogy signal.  This proven that transformer only change the sonic a bit but cannot improve the overall performance!  This is something like changing a signal cable or a socket.

This was my first CD Player back in 198X period.  This is a 20bit machine using PCM64P, NE5532 and NE5534.  I have done a lot of tweaking on this CD player until the laser head is too old to play CD.  See the record of my tweak in the photos.

Celestion SL6

Filed under: Speaker — Spencer @ 8:58 pm

Back in over 20 years, I own a pair of Celestion SL6 speaker.  It was a very difficult load speaker and not many power amplifier can drive it well.  I have Quad 405 at that time but this speaker is still hungry for power!  In the last few years, I use this speaker as my test speaker when I build my amplifiers.  This is the only picture that I have left for this speaker.

Even my pair of Celestion SL6 is gone, my brother still keep a pair of SL6si.
