Wedia D/A Converter

Filed under: DAC — Spencer @ 11:57 pm

This is a low end Wedia DAC using CS8412, DF1700P, 2x AD1864 and OPA606.  There is a custom chips in between the DF1700 and DAC chips.  This DAC sound better than most TDA1541 but not as good as PCM63 DAC.

CD-PRO2 Transport

Filed under: Sources — Spencer @ 11:18 pm

This is a transport using CD-PRO2 module with a China controller kit.  The digital out from the module is further re-data using a flip-flop with a XO about 100MHz. Then the digital signal will pass through 74HCU04 buffer and output to Optical, SPDIF and AES format.

PCM1798 ezDAC + Jfet IV + DIR9001

Filed under: DAC — Spencer @ 10:53 pm

This is a ezDAC pcb with two modifications: Use DIR9001 to replace CS8416 digital receiver and Jfet IV instead of op-amp IV.  This is a good DAC but the sonic lack of some musical taste.  It is a matter of preference but overall sound stage and 3D is good.

X2 – Ver 3

Filed under: Pass Amplifiers — Spencer @ 10:34 pm

This is not a real Nelson Pass X2 as the output use transistors.  This is actually the ver 3 of Cheffdegaar in diyaudio post.

I do not like the sound and may be in future I shall build NP original X2 again.

PCM1702 to PCM63 Converter BD

Filed under: DAC — Spencer @ 11:44 pm

This board is designed to use PCM1702 DAC chip (smd type) to replace PCM63 in D1V3.  There is one fault on the pad size of SOIC for PCM1702 (too wide).  Thus soldering of the DAC chip is quite difficult but the board is still able to be used.
